The ancient Egyptian ankh (crux ansata) is the oldest cross in the world. It is known as the "key to eternal life." This is where the Latin cross (Christian cross) comes from. Furthermore, the Egyptian ankh is a representation of male and female sexual unity and/or generative principle. The top part of the ankh represents the female's vagina or womb; the middle and bottom part of the ankh represents the male's phallus and testicles. This is why the ankh represents ever-lasting life. Life is continued not only through the spiritual world, but it also carried on through our children. They carry on our legacy, DNA, etc. Simply put, the ankh is the oldest and most powerful spiritual symbol in the world.
